Second MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition rollout commences, starting with the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 10 5G
Xiaomi has started issuing MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition to the second batch of devices in China. So far, the company has updated a dozen devices to MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition in its home market, before bringing the revised OS to the same devices globally. While Xiaomi is yet to confirm which models are next in line for the global version of MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition, we do know that six Redmi handsets are due the update by the end of October, along with the Mi 10 Youth Edition.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and the Chinese edition of the Redmi Note 10 5G are the first devices to receive MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition in Xiaomi's second batch. According to the latter's changelog, Xiaomi has included the same changes to MIUI 12.5 as it did with the first batch of devices. Hence, the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 10 5G have received 'swift performance', 'focused algorithms', 'atomized memory', 'liquid storage' and 'smart balance'. Supposedly, the latter 'allow[s] your device to make the best of the flagship hardware specs', even when it lacks them in the first place.
Additionally, these new builds contain the September 2021 Android security patch. It is worth noting that the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G shares a development branch with the Mi 10T Lite and the Mi 10i, so these two devices should also eventually be eligible for MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition. The same should apply to the Redmi Note 10T 5G and POCO M3 Pro 5G too, seeing as they are on the same branch as the Redmi Note 10 5G.
You can download the two builds via the links below. Please note that Xiaomi only intends these builds to be installed on devices enrolled on MIUI's Chinese branch. You may also need to install them via a third-party bootloader, like TWRP.
