Several Xiaomi Redmi 7 series devices including the Redmi 7, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7s, Redmi Note 7 Pro, and Redmi 7A along with the Redmi Y3 and Poco F1 will not be receiving the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition update. The Redmi 7 series launched in early 2019 and have already received MIUI 12 stable.

Xiaomi has been rolling out the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition globally in a staggered fashion. We recently saw the second rollout happen for the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and the Redmi Note 10 5G followed by a third rollout for another 25 devices. While a good number of devices have received or in line to receive the update, some of them will not be making the cut.

According to a post on the Xiaomi and MIUI News Telegram channel, the following devices cannot be updated to MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition.

Additionally, a post in the Mi Global Community Telegram channel confirmed that the Poco F1 will also not be making the cut. It is surprising that Xiaomi has excluded these devices from MIUI 12.5 and possible future updates. With the exception of the Poco F1 that launched in August 2018, all the other aforementioned devices have been early 2019 launches, which makes them fairly recent.

MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition is more of a bug-fixing and performance enhancement update with few new features such as Liquid Storage, Smart Balance, etc. MIUI 12.5 builds upon the original MIUI 12.

With the above devices already having received MIUI 12 stable, it is not clear why Xiaomi chose to filter them out from MIUI 12.5. This probably is also an indication that subsequent OTA releases may not grace these devices. In any case, the custom ROM scene is quite active for Xiaomi phones, so users may want to look into a compatible updated custom ROM for their devices down the line.
