Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4: New model variant of premium tablet launches in Xiaomi's home market
Xiaomi has quietly introduced a new version of the Pad 5 Pro 12.4, a tablet that the company only announced last month. Released just over two weeks ago, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 was originally available in three memory configurations, priced as follows:
- 6 GB of RAM/128 GB of storage - CNY 2,999 (~US$431)
- 8 GB of RAM/256 GB of storage - CNY 3,499 (~US$503)
- 12 GB of RAM/512 GB of storage - CNY 4,199 (~US$604)
Seemingly without explanation, Xiaomi has released another storage variant, bridging the gap between its entry-level and mid-range units. Specifically, Xiaomi has created an 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, priced at CNY 3,199 (~US$460). Potentially, Xiaomi has received feedback about tying an 8 GB of RAM to 256 GB of storage. For reference, Xiaomi is running a CNY 200 (~US$29) discount across all SKUs at the time of writing, reducing the new configuration to CNY 2,999 (~US$431).
Fundamentally, the new memory configuration is the same tablet as other Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 models. Hence, the new configuration has a Snapdragon 870 chipset, an IPS display with a 2.5K resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, plus a 50 MP primary camera and a 10,000 mAh battery that supports 67 W fast charging. Unfortunately, Xiaomi remains quiet on a global release for the Pad 5 Pro 12.4, although past releases would suggest that Xiaomi launches both 8 GB of RAM variants outside China.
