Xiaomi is known to have had great success with its Mi Band series of wearables, which are developed and manufactured in cooperation with Huami, and it seems that success is carrying on well into 2020. Huami boss Huang Wang was discussing the wearables market during a conference in China that was held to launch the new Amazfit GTR 2 and GTS 2 smartwatches.
According to the executive, 13.4 million units of the Xiaomi Mi Band have been shipped, which appears to be the data for Q2 2020. While the Mi Band 4 is still going strong, it’s likely the Mi Band 5 (also known as the Mi Smart Band 5) has greatly contributed to that impressive tally. The figure makes the Mi Band series the most-shipped wearable range in the world, and it is also the most popular smart band brand in China with 5.49 million units shipped.
Huami’s Amazfit brand is also doing well, with a reported 1.74 million units of the Amazfit smartwatch range being shipped around the world, apparently gaining Huami fifth place in the rankings for smartwatches. With Mi Fit and Zepp application code revealing more model numbers in connection with the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, there is still some substance behind the rumors that Pro and Lite variants of the successful wearable could soon come along and boost these incredible sales figures even further.
