Voices38 cracks another AAA Denuvo game despite piracy lawsuit from DRM maker

With voices38 not cracking a Denuvo game in a month, some supporters thought the hacker had vanished. However, even facing a lawsuit, another AAA game relying on the DRM appeared on piracy sites. Rebellion’s 2025 Atomfall has now seen the controversial protection removed.
The legal battle explained
In September, an Irdeto-owned company began legal action against the pirate in a U.S. federal court. The DMCA anti-circumvention claims involve 26 Denuvo games, including Resident Evil Requiem and Doom: The Dark Ages. Additionally, the company is seeking information tied to social media and marketplace accounts.
Most recently, Irdeto’s subsidiary requested subpoenas from Discord, Reddit, and Steam. According to a new motion, the companies have so far not been cooperative. A judge could potentially force them to release names, addresses, IPs, or other data that may help locate voices38. The plaintiff also believes it has found traces of its tormentor on the cryptocurrency exchange FixedFloat.
Atomfall surfacing on piracy networks should perhaps not be surprising. When news of the lawsuit broke, voices38 assured fans he would crack the DRM again. Yet, in mid-September, after saying, “All is fine. Everything will continue as normal,” there were no further updates. Fears grew that they had either been discovered or had left the scene.
While Irdeto may not have stopped its primary target, another hacking group did disband. DenuvOwO had bypassed the protection in dozens of titles. Upon hearing of the lawsuit, one member explained they weren’t prepared to risk penalties.
Voices38 remains the largest concern because Denuvo cracks don’t rely on the hypervisor bypass. The less desirable approach requires turning off some Windows security settings. At the same time, even with progress made, the alternative method can still be slow.
Critics question Rebellion's use of the DRM
Steam player counts for Atomfall have dwindled significantly since its March 2025 release date. Other publishers like Capcom often remove anti-tamper software after a shorter period. Studios are more worried about Denuvo games becoming victims during the vital post-launch sales window.
Despite the threat, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve are 2 recent AAA titles to launch with the DRM.
