Vision Pro: Apple assembles manufacturing partners for first-gen headset
Apple's Vision Pro might have difficulty making it onto the Chinese market soon; however, that country's economy is now slated to benefit from the production of the impending, ultra-premium new "spatial computer". 7 of the companies found on a new list of suppliers for the Cupertino giant's inaugural headset are based in China, with another 11 hailing from Taiwan.
Some of the names are said to be used to doing business with Apple, having provided the parts for devices such as iPhones and AirPods in the past. They include Largan, now tipped to provide lenses for the Vision Pro's advanced cameras and sensors, and habitual iPhone assembly partner Pegatron.
Despite that name's presence on the list, Vision Pro manufacture might be handled by Luxshare instead, which has reportedly agreed to put the product together for about US$130 per US$3,499 headset. The firm might do so with parts from a range of additional suppliers such as Desay Battery, Cowell Holdings, Zhaowei, Flexium, GIS-KY and Nanya PCB - not to mention Goertek for its inbuilt speakers and TSMC for its chipsets.
