The STAT Health in-ear wearable has been unveiled. You can use the gadget to track symptoms such as dizziness and brain fog, commonly associated with conditions like long Covid and chronic fatigue syndrome. The small wearable has a micro solar panel to keep it charged up and can be worn 24/7, with insights available via a smartphone app.

STAT Health has revealed its new in-ear wearable to track cerebral blood flow. The company claims it is the world's smallest wearable and can measure changes in the body on standing. The gadget can detect symptoms such as dizziness, brain fog, headaches, fatigue and fainting; according to STAT Health the device can warn of fainting several minutes in advance.

This means that you could use the in-ear wearable to monitor conditions like long Covid, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and myalgic encephalomyelitis (chronic fatigue syndrome). The device includes optical, pressure and temperature sensors and an accelerometer, measuring your heart rate, blood pressure and blood flow. The gadget has a micro solar panel which boosts usage time, with the battery lasting three to four days without solar charging. The in-ear wearable has been designed for 24/7 use, suitable for daily activities like showering or sleeping, and allows you to continue to use many in-ear and over-ear headphone models.

You can pair the gadget with your smartphone to view health insights in an accompanying app; initially, only an iOS app will be offered. The device has been tested at Johns Hopkins and detailed in the peer-reviewed Journal of the American College of Cardiology. STAT Health suggests that its in-ear wearable will be available to pre-order this Fall with a US$50 monthly subscription. The pricing of the wearable itself needs to be clarified, as does a possible FDA approval date. You can sign up for the company's mailing list for early access.
