SG Micro typically pitches its power-management components (which include the DACs, amplifiers and switches for this purpose) at the automotive industry. However, according to the respected market analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it has now won the right to list Apple among its list of clients.
This high-profile achievement apparently demonstrates SG Micro's status as what Kuo describes as a "tier-1" electronics supplier, having matched up to Apple's famously exacting quality standards. The Beijing-based manufacturer will thus supply the power management integrated circuits (or PMICs) for the iPhone 14 series.
Therefore, this is a potentially valuable development for SG Micro, as well as a potentially interesting one for iPhone fans and the tech sphere in general. Not only does it suggest that Apple is back on track with its mobile product cycle (more so than previously thought, moreover), but that its new choice of PMICs for "higher-end" units hint at upgraded (or at least updated) charging specs in these upcoming flagships.
