Timex launches a stainless-steel Waterbury Classic watch as a revival of its discontinued dial

Snoopy jumping into a pile of leaves is not a new Timex dial design by any means. The artwork was also visible on the Peanuts x Timex Standard (reference TW2U86200) which the brand has since discontinued and has no plans to restock. It now comes back on a better case.
The Peanuts x Timex Waterbury Classic, TW2Y85600, is listed at $189. The 40 mm case is stainless steel instead of the silver-tone finish of the earlier Standard. The strap itself is black natural leather (sourced through the Leather Working Group), replacing the tan one.
Apart from that, the dial is similar to the last one. We can see Snoopy leaping mid-frame into yellow and orange foliage on a white ground. There are Arabic numerals around him and the Timex wordmark is present below the 12 o' clock. Luminant in-fill sits on the hands only, not the numerals. A mineral crystal covers it, and the movement is quartz; it runs on an SR626SW cell.
Timex now sells nine Peanuts references, from $105 for the Beagle Scout Fast Wrap to $379 for the Marlin Jet Automatic Easy Rider. At $189 the Waterbury Classic is positioned just below the Legacy Snoopy Umbrella and the MK1, both $199, and above the resin-cased Expedition Acadia and Scout at $119 and $129.
The steel case and LWG leather are big upgrades over the discontinued reference, and the artwork is identical. Anyone who already owns the Standard is being asked to pay again for the same dial.
The case measures 46 mm lug to lug and is 11 mm thick, and it comes on a 20 mm black leather strap with a buckle. Water resistance is 50 m.
