Timex has another 1970s classic up its sleeve
Timex is digging into its archives again, bringing back a 1976 classic with two new Q day-date watches. The blue and brown variants pair smoky fumé dials with gold-tone accents, compact stainless-steel cases, and vintage-inspired leather straps.

After bringing us the quirky Rotary Phone Dial reissue in September, Timex is digging up its archives once again for another treasure.

The American watchmaker is reviving its 1976 Q day-date watch, leaning into the decade's love for bold colors, gold accents, and rich browns. The new Q 1976 reissue comes in blue and brown colorways, both with plenty of gold-tone detailing to complete the retro look.

The TW2Y87100 features a blue dial that transitions from a darker outer edge to a brighter blue center, while the brown variant has a smoky gradient that shifts between deep chocolate and lighter, warmer shades in the light. Both dials are set with applied gold-tone indices and matching hands and feature a day-date window at 3 o’clock.

The brown variant gets a gold case with a matching crown and a brown crocodile-grain natural leather strap, while the blue model features a silver case paired with a blue leather strap.

The new watches share the same proportions and case design as the Rotary Dial Phone, featuring a 37mm polished stainless-steel case with a softly contoured profile and sculpted lugs. A raised acrylic crystal adds another vintage touch, while the gold-tone crown on the blue model provides a subtle splash of warmth.

Instead of a hand-wound mechanical movement, Timex has opted for a battery-powered quartz movement to keep things practical and affordable. You also get 50 meters of water resistance—pretty standard for a dress watch like this and it should safeguard the watch against spills and water splashes, although the leather strap is better suited to keeping things dry.

The new Timex Q 1976 Day and Date reissue is listed on Timex's India website for ₹19,995 (~$209) for the blue model (TW2Y87100UJ) and ₹20,995 (~$220) for the brown variant (TW2Y87200UJ). Both watches are expected to make their way to the US, the UK, and the EU in the coming weeks.
