Ticwatch Pro LTE now available, will activate via Verizon
Mobvoi has made an LTE-enabled variant of the Ticwatch Pro available for sale today (Jul 10, 2019), as anticipated following several leaks on the subject. This new wearable resembles the pre-existing Ticwatch Pro to a considerable degree, right down to its dual OLED/FSTN LCD screen and 415 mAh battery. However, it also has some improvements over the Bluetooth-only version that may make it worthwhile to some potential smartwatch owners.
Besides its standalone connectivity, the Ticwatch Pro LTE has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 rather than the "high-strength cover glass" found in its earlier variant. It also has 1GB RAM, whereas the Ticwatch Pro has 512MB. Mobvoi also claims that it improves on an IP68 rating with additional "pool swimming suitability".
The new Ticwatch Pro will access LTE (as well as VoLTE, E911 and an SOS signal) through an inbuilt SIM. In the US, this feature will be facilitated on the carrier Verizon, and will start to become available during August 2019.
This updated wearable has a recommended retail price of US$398.99, whereas the original Pro is sold at $249. However, Mobvoi is selling it at an introductory rate of $279 plus a free TicHome Mini smart-home accessory for 1 day and 21 hours from now (19:10 CET on July 10, 2019).
