There's been conflicting information on what SoC the upcoming Redmi K30 will feature. Some say it'll be the Snapdragon 730G, while others tout the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G. New developments debunk all of those, and we're almost definitely going to see a Redmi K30 powered by the just-announced Snapdragon 765.

Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi K30 will be launched on December 10, which means we're less than a week away from launch at this point. Until now, it's been unknown what SoC would power the Redmi K30. Rumors from last week claimed the phone would feature MediaTek's new Dimensity 1000 5G, a hypothetical move that we criticized heavily. Thankfully, it appears that we jumped the gun on that.

Redmi has, in a Weibo post, confirmed that the Redmi K30 will be equipped with a brand new 5G SoC. There are reports claiming that the phone will sport the Snapdragon 730G, but that doesn't make any sense, seeing as the Snapdragon 730G isn't 5G-capable.

Redmi K30 is the first to adopt a new generation 5G process, a new 5G high-profile network solution, and a comprehensive upgrade of the flagship configuration. Strong in all aspects, beyond the "benchmark".

Lu Weibing, Redmi General Manager, confirmed the post by saying, "Looking forward to the latest Qualcomm processors".

Well, Qualcomm just announced a new set of SoCs—the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 765/765G—both of which are 5G-capable. Considering the fact that the Redmi K20 was powered by the Snapdragon 730, it stands to reason that the new K30 will be powered by the Snapdragon 765. Xiaomi also has a great partnership with Qualcomm, so it makes sense that it will be the first to debut the new sub-premium SD765.

It's important to note that there's a slim chance Xiaomi releases two Redmi K30 models—one with just 4G and the Snapdragon 730G, and the other with 5G and the new Snapdragon 765.

Sadly, we don't have much information on the new SoCs right now. That'll come soon, though, in the form of a deep dive later today. Stay tuned.
