Nintendo’s Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake arrives on Switch 2 on November 5, featuring 60 FPS, voiced cutscenes, a jump button, and the Hall of Fallen Foes boss-rematch room.

Nintendo has set The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for release on November 5, 2026, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo confirmed the date during the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, and the remake is the centerpiece of the series’ anniversary celebrations. Nintendo describes it as the classic adventure completely rebuilt for the console.

Smoother performance and modern controls

The 1998 Nintendo 64 original ran at roughly 20 frames per second. Digital Foundry measured the remake at 1080p and 60 frames per second in the September footage and noted that it does not appear to use Nvidia DLSS upscaling. Nintendo has not confirmed a docked resolution so far.

Link now has a dedicated jump button instead of leaping automatically at ledges, and the camera and movement controls have been reworked. Slingshots, bows, and other tools can be aimed with motion controls.

A more explorable Hyrule

Hyrule Castle Town no longer uses a fixed camera and can be explored freely in 3D. Time also flows throughout the game now, so night can fall while Link is in town. Nintendo has kept loading screens between certain areas, though, with producer Eiji Aonuma saying this preserves the feel of the original.

Voiced cutscenes and new extras

Major cutscenes are now fully voiced. Characters such as Zelda, Saria, Darunia, Ruto, and Ganondorf speak, while Link remains silent. Nintendo has not announced the voice cast.

An overview trailer on October 14 revealed the Hall of Fallen Foes, a museum-style room with statues of defeated enemies. Examining a statue shows a description and where to find the foe, and bosses can be fought again, with the game tracking your best time.

The Switch 2 microphone lets players hum or play Ocarina melodies, and Nintendo will sell a physical Ocarina. The Zelda Notes service in the Nintendo Switch app adds play data, a virtual Ocarina, and a daily quiz with more than 2,000 questions.

Price and availability

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time costs $59.99 digitally and $69.99 physically. Nintendo’s store lists an estimated 27 GB download, which may change before launch. The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 console arrives a week earlier on October 29, with the game sold separately.
