Frosthaven finally exits early access

Frosthaven, the digital adaptation of Isaac Childres' acclaimed board game, officially launches in version 1.0 today, October 15, 2026. Developed by Snapshot Games and published by Arc Games, the full release is available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. According to the official Steam announcement, the rollout happens on October 15 or October 16 depending on your region.

What the launch includes

Frosthaven is a dark fantasy tactical RPG and a spiritual successor to Gloomhaven. The release ends a year-long Early Access run that began on July 31, 2025, when the game debuted with roughly one-third of its planned content, eight characters, and more than 35 quests across Acts 1 and 2. Version 1.0 delivers the complete story campaign from the tabletop game, including its final chapter, along with the full roster of 17 playable heroes. The last hero joins the game at launch. Players begin with six classes: Banner Spear, Boneshaper, Drifter, Geminate, Blinkblade, and Deathwalker, and more unlock as the campaign progresses. The official announcement also lists highly requested house rules among the launch additions.

Snapshot has finished the in-game Codex too, which collects lore, characters, creatures, and biomes in one place. Newcomers get a digital-only introduction called Road to Frosthaven, plus a tutorial and interface displays designed to make the game's dense systems easier to learn. The developers also announced a standalone demo built around that introduction.

Co-op and existing owners

Frosthaven supports two to four players in online co-op, and the 1.0 build adds improved multiplayer systems and networking enhancements. Childres said he is delighted with Snapshot's work, noting that it keeps the gameplay in line with the board game while improving onboarding and user experience. Players who already own the Early Access version do not need to buy the game again, because the full release arrives as an update that upgrades their existing copy.

Price and bundles

The Steam page lists Frosthaven at $39.99. Two new bundles arrive on Steam alongside the release. The Frosthaven Complete Edition Bundle pairs the game with the Frosthaven Soundtrack and OST, while the Frosthaven × Sunderfolk Bundle combines the game with the cooperative fantasy adventure Sunderfolk. Frosthaven is a standalone game, so no previous Gloomhaven experience is needed to jump in.
