Valve officially sunsets the Valve Index after seven years, with remaining stock now available at a discount

The Steam Frame was recently released, giving gamers a new VR headset from Valve to try. And it seems that following its release, the company is ready to move on from its previous headset, as Valve has now officially decided to sunset the Valve Index.
The Valve Index was originally released in June 2019, meaning it has been around for more than seven years. Valve has now confirmed that the headset is no longer being produced, bringing its long run to an end as the company shifts its focus toward the Steam Frame.
That said, the Index isn't disappearing immediately. Valve has confirmed that its remaining stock of Index headsets, controllers, and accessories will continue to be sold while supplies last and at a discounted price.
On Steam, the Valve Index is currently available for $399.20 instead of $499 thanks to a 20% discount. The Valve Index Replacement Left Controller and Replacement Tether have also received 20% discounts, giving existing owners a chance to pick up replacement parts for less before the remaining stock runs out.
And if you already own a Valve Index, there is no need to worry about support ending with production. Valve has confirmed that nothing changes for existing owners, as the Index will continue to be supported through Steam and SteamVR.
