Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition are out on Switch 2. Prices, file sizes, and early performance findings.

Capcom has released Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 today, October 16, 2026. All three run natively on the console. Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 were previously only available on the original Switch as cloud versions, which stream from a server, and those versions remain on the eShop. Resident Evil 4 had no previous Switch release. Capcom says saved data from the cloud versions cannot be transferred to the new releases.

Performance and visuals

Tech analyses from third-party media, published October 15, found that all three games target 60 FPS. Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, which were built with PS4 in mind, hold that target more consistently. Resident Evil 4 hits it most of the time but dips into the 50s, and into the 40s during dense encounters. In handheld mode, it frequently sits in the 40 to 50 FPS range.

Third-party media report that Resident Evil 4 renders at roughly 540p docked and 360p handheld, with Nvidia's DLSS upscaling the image. Those reports say its presentation sits closer to the PS4 version than the PS5 one. Screen-space reflections are absent, volumetric lighting is softer, and foliage is less dense, although textures are generally sharper than on PS4.

Prices and file sizes

Each game is sold separately, and Capcom has not announced a bundle. On the US Nintendo eShop, Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition costs $39.99, Resident Evil 3 costs $29.99, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition costs $49.99. An early adopter discount runs until November 7, 2026, bringing them to $29.99, $19.79, and $39.99, respectively.

Nintendo’s listings put the downloads at 14 GB for Resident Evil 2, 12.9 GB for Resident Evil 3, and 29 GB for Resident Evil 4, which is 55.9 GB for all three. That makes Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition the largest of the three, at just under 30 GB. Players short on space can use a microSD Express card.

Extras and physical release

The Deluxe and Gold editions bundle additional content, and the Resident Evil 4 version includes the Separate Ways campaign. Resident Evil Resistance, the online mode that shipped with Resident Evil 3 elsewhere, is not included.

Capcom lists physical versions for January 29, 2027. It has not said whether they will be full cartridges or game key cards that download the game.
