The Last of Us Part 3 may have been teased by the creator

The Last of Us Part II came out almost six years ago and even the remaster is now over two years old. While there has never been an official confirmation for a sequel, fans have always hoped for a part three. It looks like we may finally have a confirmation that the next instalment is in development, straight from the creator himself.
Head of Naughty Dog studio Neil Druckmann shared a photo on Instagram of early concept sketches for what became The Last of Us. The sketches were from 2003 but the game only launched in 2013 for the PlayStation 3. Then, seven years later, Part II came out and became a fan favorite. While it’s known that the studio is working on a couple different projects and there has already been two seasons of a TV show based on the franchise, no update has been shared about The Last of Us Part III. With the latest post, Druckmann could be hinting at the existence of the sequel.
The interesting part of the post reads, “Been a wild journey. Grateful for every part of it, especially the few stops that remain on the road ahead.” With “few stops that remain,” fans believe that Druckmann is hinting at the next instalment, without actually confirming or giving anything away. It could just be a reference to the third season of the TV show, but Druckmann is not going to be as involved with the upcoming season as he has been in the past, presumably because he wants to focus on the third instalment of the game.
It’s still quite vague to be a direct confirmation for The Last of Us Part III but we might see a reveal or teaser later this year, considering 2027 will mark seven years after the second part came out.
