The Best Stylus Convertibles
Convertibles are very versatile devices and can be used as traditional notebooks with all the advantages like a conventional keyboard, and also as tablets thanks to the integrated touchscreen. All these device also support active input pens for graphics designers and artists. The following ranking lists all modern convertible PCs, which can be used with active input pens.
Note: We did not use the (subjective) quality of the stylus or the input pen, respectively, for the following ranking, but only criteria we can judge objectively by our authors and measurements. These are the following: Performance headroom for applications, display quality, and sound. The information about the input pens can also be found in each individual review.
Please feel free to comment below if you have made experiences with the listed devices and especially the input pens to give additional help for other users.

Note: The switch to a new rating system took place in June 2024. In the new v8 rating, the criteria were adapted to current hardware developments, new points were added and individual measurement methods were changed. As a result, the v8 ratings are slightly lower than under v7. The new v8 rating is not directly comparable with previous versions. For this reason, we are listing two tables with the best devices according to v7 and v8 rating here for the time being. Further information on the new v8 rating can be found here.

The table above contains an overview over the best convertibles with stylus input reviewed by Notebookcheck over the course of the past 12 months as well as still relevant and available older products. In cases of identical score the more recent device is listed first. All prices in above table and price comparisons are updated daily and can thus differ.
Editors' Comments
Our ranking includes laptop convertibles as well as notebooks with 360-degree hinges and Windows tablets with additional keyboard docks. It is your choice which device you prefer. We notice that some convertibles still uses Intel's Kaby Lake dual-core processors. Devices with the latest quad-core Kaby Lake Refresh chips (KBL-R) often suffer from a performance drop under sustained workloads or the performance is worse than expected even in short peak load scenarios. This should be taken into account, especially if you plan to perform more complex tasks like video editing. Most of the following device are pleasantly quiet. Please refer to the original reviews if the battery runtime is important for you.
The situation is tricky when it comes to the scope of delivery in terms of the pen. You should definitely ask the manufacturer whether it is included or not if there are any doubts. Then there is the issue with the features of the pen; some of the manufacturers could not answer our question about the support of "pen-tilt", for example. The same applies for the support of third-party pens.
Rating Version 8:
1st – HP Envy x360 2-in-1 14 (2024)
A slim aluminum chassis, a colorful OLED screen, a decent keyboard and a not quite as powerful Intel Core Ultra 5 from the U-series - a good convertible almost doesn't need more. The HP Envy x360 comes with all of this out of the box. We also find a stylus in the scope of delivery. The HP MPP 2.0 with position detection offers a pleasant feel. But the lightweight 2-in-1 laptop also offers a good sound, quiet fans and an excellent battery life. If the performance of the Intel 4-core graphics is sufficient, the decision for the HP Envy x360 is an easy one. Intel's small graphics chip from the current processor generation is not really suitable for gaming in our current test.
The Envy x360 2-in-1 14 impresses with its versatile design, low emissions and economical power consumption.
The only real point of criticism of the HP Envy is ultimately the Intel Core Ultra 5 125U and its cooling. HP clearly gets too little out of the processor and squanders a large part of the convertible's potential performance.
Interested users can find the device on HP's official store where prices start at $960.

2nd – LG Gram Pro 2-in-1
Even thinner, even lighter and still one of the most powerful LG Gram we have ever had the pleasure of testing. This is what makes the current LG Gram Pro 2-in-1 so special. OLED panel, speakers and battery are top notch! The included LG Pen charges wirelessly on the laptop and the black-painted magnesium casing has its charm. Because the Gram Pro 2-in-1 is less than 15 mm thick, it really feels like a tablet in tablet mode. When lying on the table, the laptop is thinner than many a writing pad. This contributes to optimal ergonomics and haptics.
LG takes the Pro in the name of the LG Gram Pro seriously and offers a well-rounded overall package that clearly stands out from the “standard” Gram.
The only thing missing here is a card reader to be able to edit images and videos quickly on the laptop. Due to the high computing power, the laptop has to dissipate a lot of heat. This is partly done via the casing. The LG Gram Pro 2-in-1 quickly becomes very warm under high load.
At the time of writing, the gram Pro 2-in-1 is available directly from LG for $1,900. Alternatively, users can get the device from other retailers such as Amazon.

Rating Version 7:
1st – Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga G4
The history of Lenovo's convertibles is quite extensive. Immediately after taking over laptop production from IBM, Lenovo presented the first ThinkPad X41 tablet. So Lenovo probably has the longest experience in the convertible market. The ThinkPad X13 Yoga G4 is a typical representative of the ThinkPad brand in terms of stability and endurance. The stable 13-inch convertible weighs just 1.3 kg.
The ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 4 is based on a good battery life, a strong casing and a decent screen, but once again you are fobbed off with a somewhat weak 13th generation Intel processor.
In terms of performance, this is a good office device with strong battery life and an acceptable screen. However, you shouldn't expect too much from it. Only the sRGB color space is displayed halfway completely at an average of 431 cd/m². However, thanks to the matte display surface, writing with the integrated stylus is almost like using a pencil on paper.
Interested users can find the device on Lenovo's official store where prices start at $1,293.
Price comparison
Integrated ThinkBook Yoga Smart Pen
The integrated Smart Pen of Lenovo's ThinkPads offers 4,096 pressure levels and two integrated buttons. It is charged in the convertible's pen silo. This means that the stylus does not need batteries.
2nd – Lenovo Yoga 9 2-in-1 14IMH9
The Meteor Lake processor generation has also found its way into Lenovo's latest flagship convertibles. The current Yoga 9 scores points in our test report with a high-quality and slim casing, a color OLED panel with a frame rate of up to 120 Hz and comparatively strong performance among convertibles. The 2024 Yoga is also quieter than its predecessors. The battery life of the slim device is also impressive. Up to 10 hours of surfing are possible here.
The Lenovo Yoga 9 2-in-1 14IMH9 is smaller, lighter, more powerful and more durable than its predecessors. However, the disadvantages of the hardware, such as maintainability and the reflective screen, remain.
For some, the selection of connections is likely to be more of a nuisance. Apart from a headphone socket, the Yoga only has USB ports in various versions.
Price comparison
Yoga Stylus
The Yoga Stylus is quite slim and does not require batteries. The digital stylus is therefore unusual to hold at first. Unfortunately, the 2-in-1 laptop does not have a pen holder. So you have to rely on the magnetic holder on the screen.
3rd - Yoga Book 9 13IMU9 2-in-1 Dual Screen
Lenovo's dual-screen laptop now has some competition from the new Asus Zenbook Duo. However, this is not quite a convertible. The Yoga Book 9 2-in-1, on the other hand, comes with a 360° hinge. The second generation of this unusual laptop is now available. The new Meteor Lake processors have also been introduced here. However, the new processors do not really work any better than the Alder Lake processors of the predecessor. But they are quieter.
The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i 2024 offers better efficiency and a quieter fan noise. However, the performance and features remain unchanged compared to the previous year. Even the Intel Graphics 4-core iGPU iGPU is on par with an Intel Iris Xe.
The points of criticism that we found on the predecessor have at least been clearly r.ctified in the software. Input via the virtual clickpad and the on-screen keyboard is now almost problem-free.
Interested users can order the Yoga Book 9 13IMU9 via Lenovo's online store.
Price comparison
4th – Asus Zenbook Duo OLED
The Asus Zenbook Duo OLED cheats its way onto the list of convertibles because the laptop doesn't have a 360° hinge. But it does have a detachable keyboard. A second screen is "hidden" underneath, which is also suitable for pen input. The Zenbook Duo OLED could therefore be described as detachable. Ultimately, however, the laptop lacks a tablet mode.
In terms of performance, Meteor Lake processors up to the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H deliver strong performance. However, depending on how you use the two screens, the battery will drain quite quickly.
The new Asus Zenbook Duo 2024 is perhaps the best multi-screen device on the market, as it can also be used as a normal notebook.
The biggest competitor to the Zenbook Duo is and remains Lenovo's Yoga Book. However, both devices differ significantly in terms of handling and features. The Yoga Book is slim, but does not offer quite as much comfort when typing, operating and system performance.
At the time of writing, the Asus Zenbook Duo OLED is available on Amazon for around $1,700.

5th - Asus ROG Flow X13
Gaming laptop, creative station and compact convertible - the Asus ROG Flow X13 is an all-in-one solution. Convertibles with a dGPU are rare, making the gaming convertible from Asus an oddity in our list of the best. Only the ExpertBook B6 Flip stands out here as a similarly powerful representative.
The Asus ROG Flow X13 is a powerful convertible with an AMD processor and Nvidia graphics and is one of the few representatives in its class.
The ROG Flow X13 has a powerful screen with DisplayP3 coverage and an excellent keyboard. With its powerful Ryzen 9 7940HS and the RTX 4060, the convertible leaves little to be desired in terms of computing power. The convertible's battery runtimes are also reasonable.
At the time of writing, the Asus ROG Flow X13 is available on Asus's official online store. Alternatively, it is also available on Amazon US or Best buy.

6th – Lenovo Yoga Book 9i 2-in-1 Dual Screen
With the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i, you can see twice. The convertible comes with two very good OLED displays that provide plenty of usable screen area. Both fully cover all important color spaces. However, the Yoga Book with its unusual concept is not quite fully developed. In the test, we found too many software bugs, while the hardware runs well and delivers strong performance. However, Lenovo has since rectified the software problems as far as possible.
The Yoga 9i 2-in-1 is the most elegant and high-quality dual-screen subnotebook that we have been able to test so far. Unfortunately, the device's software is still in need of significant optimization.
Disappointingly, the subnotebook also has many points of criticism, especially when it comes to the input devices. The wireless keyboard feels very clunky and the supplied software for the keyboard for the second display is cumbersome. With the successor model, there is hope that the street price of the Yoga Book will drop significantly in the 2023 version.
In the US, interested users can order the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i 2-in-1 through common retailers, Amazon for example.
Price comparison
7th – Dell Latitude 9450 2-in-1
The Intel Core Ultra 7 165U in the Dell Latitude 9450 2-in-1 unfortunately only offers the new Intel 4-core graphics. This remains at Iris Xe level and thus the new Latitude 9450 offers comparatively little performance in its price class. Even Dell's powerful cooling solution cannot hide this fact. An Intel H-series processor with Arc iGPU would be desirable for prices above 3000 euros ($3,250).
The Latitude 9450 2-in-1 offers an essentially identical user experience to the Latitude 9440 2-in-1.
In terms of price-performance, the Latitude remains less attractive, even if it is first-class in terms of screen, workmanship and casing.
Currently, the Dell Latitude 9450 2-in-1 is available on manufacturer's webstore with prices starting at $2,320.
Price comparison
8th – HP EliteBook x360 830 G10
The HP EliteBook x360 830 G10 is the latest version of the compact convertible series for travelers and business customers. With its slim aluminum casing, the convertible makes quite an impression, while also offering a high level of connectivity. The 2-in-1 laptop from HP is therefore probably the biggest competitor to the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga G4, which currently leads our top list. We can only detect a clear difference between the two devices in terms of volume.
In the business convertible class, the EliteBook x360 830 hardly stands out from its strong competitors.
Real negative points are only sporadic and hardly affect everyday use. The SSD of this notebook is slow, the RAM is soldered and the screen resolution is limited to WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200), which is significantly less than many other modern laptops.
The EliteBook x360 830 G10 can be ordered through HP's online store. Alternately, Amazon also has the laptop on their list.
Price comparison
9th – HP Spectre x360 16 Convertible
The HP Spectre x360 16 is one of the few 2-in-1 laptops with dedicated graphics. It uses an Nvidia RTX 4050 with 55 watts. In terms of system performance, you get a powerful device that still doesn't make its performance known with loud fans and high surface temperatures. A first-class OLED panel and an unusual casing design round off the overall picture. Anyone looking for a convertible for occasional gaming will find what they are looking for here.
The performance is generally excellent, but there are certainly faster alternatives to the 2-in-1 design. Classic laptops can often get more performance out of the same hardware.
The HP Spectre x360 is definitely eye-catching, but not obtrusive. Although it sometimes shows the aggressive edges of gaming laptops, it is tame again in terms of the choice of colors.
At the time of writing, the HP Spectre x360 16 is available on the maunacturer's webstore, the entry model costs around $1,170.
Price comparison
10th – Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga G3
Lenovo's small convertible from the ThinkPad X series is now a cheaper alternative to the significantly more expensive ThinkPad X1 series. Lenovo introduced a new design here in 2022. The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga G3 is gray and its shape is a classic representative of the new ThinkPads with a tapered base and slanted sides. All those looking for the typical red trackpoint will still find it here. Our test device with the 2,560 × 1,600 WQXGA screen only fully displays the sRGB color space. The Intel Core i7-1265U impresses here with its high performance class.
Alder-Lake brings higher performance, but reduced battery life and a louder fan on the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 3.
The convertible's fans are comparatively loud, while it only has below-average speakers. The ThinkPad stylus is also small and offers little convenience. You also have to do without an SD card reader on these ThinkPads.
Currently, the ThinkPad X13 Yoga G3 is listed on Lenovo's webstore with prices starting at $950.
