The Best Smartphones for Less Than 200 Euros

November 2021 update. Looking for a great affordable smartphone? Below, you will find the best smartphones reviewed by us that cost less than 200 Euros, or around $240. Entry-level smartphones will require quite a few compromises from their users but are more often than not more than sufficient for simple tasks and perfectly adequate at running simple applications.

The flagship smartphones from the established manufacturers always get the most attention. However, not everyone is willing to pay 500 Euros or more. Many people are actually looking for suitable smartphones in the inexpensive entry-level segment, and the price is obviously one major factor.

There is no doubt that on paper the specifications reveal significant differences compared to the super smartphones, especially in terms of performance, display and picture quality of the integrated cameras. However, this does not mean that you cannot be happy with an inexpensive smartphone if you have moderate expectations. We list the best smartphones with a current street price of less than 200 Euros that have been reviewed by Notebookcheck over the last 12 months (assuming the device is still available). The following rankings might be interesting as well:

Due to fluctuating prices, we have quite a lot of shuffling about in this list as well and would like to welcome a total of five new entries this month: the Poco X3 ProRedmi Note 10S, Redmi 10, Vivo Y70, and Motorola Moto G50.

In return, we say goodbye to the Moto G10Moto G20, Moto G30, Wiko View5 Plus, and Xiaomi Poco M3.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S
Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S is an affordable lower mid-range smartphone that offers solid everyday performance for most applications. When compared to other Redmi 10 models the Note 10S offers a decent overall compromise. Its display is bright, and its dual speakers performed decent. 3rd – Xiaomi Poco M3 Pro 5G

Xiaomi Poco M3 Pro 5G
Xiaomi Poco M3 Pro 5G

Xiaomi’s Poco smartphones offer plenty of performance at a low price, and the Poco M3 Pro 5G does not disappoint in this regard either. It offers a sleek design, 5G, a 90 Hz display, NFC, a powerful battery, and a high level of performance. The “Pro” moniker is justified by the addition of NFC, the 90 Hz display, and 5G when compared to the regular Poco M3.

The Poco M3 Pro 5G is a well-equipped 5G smartphone at a low price.

Downsides include its triple-camera array with a macro and a depth-of-field lens that don’t add any extra functionality. Its main camera, on the other hand, takes overall decent photos. If you’re in the market for plenty of smartphone at a low price the Xiaomi Poco M3 Pro 5G is a great choice.

Xiaomi smartphones are not officially sold in North America.

The Motorola Moto G50 is a decent mid-range smartphone.

The device feels robust and looks great. Battery life is decent, and the device itself turned out to be fairly efficient. Equipped with a matching power supply it even supports fast charging. Unfortunately, the included power supply turned out to be somewhat slow.

It can even run up-to-date games smoothly without any compromises.

The Xiaomi Redmi 10 is a good-looking well equipped everyday smartphone for customers on a budget.

We also liked the Redmi 10’s connectivity, which includes among others NFC, Bluetooth 5.1, real dual-SIM, a 3.5-mm headphone jack, and an IR blaster. 5G is not supported, and wireless network connectivity is limited to fast and stable Wi-Fi 5. The Oppo A74 is a decent mid-range smartphone with a decent battery, camera, and display. Its 5,000 mAh battery ensures long battery life, its 48 MP camera takes decent phones in daylight, and its bright and good AMOLED display is a rare sight in this price range.

The Oppo A74 mid-range smartphone offers a great battery, camera, and display.

Unfortunately, the Oppo A74 comes with a slow and inadequate Snapdragon 662 SoC. It may be fast enough for everyday use but will sometimes slow down and seem somewhat lethargic. This means that future apps will suffer from the Snapdragon 662’s low performance, and due to lack of NFC the device does not support mobile payment systems.
