Deal | The 12-core AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D hits a new all-time low price on Amazon for a limited time
The AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D, released in February of last year, is currently seeing its biggest-ever price drop on Amazon. Available at just $388, down 35% from its original retail price of $599 on the platform, this processor offers great value for users seeking high-end performance, particularly for gaming.
Thanks to AMD's second-gen 3D V-Cache technology, the 7900X3D rocks an impressive 128 MB of L3 cache, significantly enhancing gaming performance, especially for CPU-intensive titles. With 12 cores and 24 threads, and a boost clock of up to 5.6 GHz, this processor delivers impressive performance across a range of applications. Compared to Intel's offerings such as the i9-13900K, the AMD chip shines in terms of gaming performance, but falls short of the 13900K's multi-threaded performance due to its lower core count.
Built on the Zen 4 "Raphael" architecture and manufactured on TSMC's 5 nm process, the 7900X3D maintains a base TDP of 120 watts, a PPT of 162 watts, and is significantly more power efficient than anything Intel has to offer. The processor supports dual-channel DDR5 memory with a maximum speed of 5200 MT/s, with the potential for higher speeds which can be achieved through overclocking. Although ECC support is available, it may vary depending on the motherboard.
Moreover, the chip supports PCIe 5.0, offering a total of 24 usable PCIe lanes for expansion. Integrated with an RDNA 2-based Radeon iGPU featuring 2 CUs, the 7900X3D provides additional graphics capabilities for users who require them, although it is pretty obvious that potential buyers will opt for a beefier discrete GPU to pair with this screamer of a chip.
