13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air refreshed with Apple M3 chip
Multiple analysts predicted Apple would stealthily launch a few new products, such as new MacBooks and iPads, in March 2024. Their analysis was spot-on, as the company has just announced two new MacBook Air variants via a press release. One can now buy the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air with Apple's newest M3 chip, allowing for Wi-Fi 6E functionality and AV1 decode.
They also get dual monitor support, something that has been missing in previous-gen models despite packing compatible hardware. That is about the only upgrade the laptops get, though. Everything else, including its base memory (8 GB) and storage (256 GB), remains identical. Like its predecessor, the new M3 MacBook Air variants can be configured with up to 24 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage.
The base 13-inch MacBook Air costs $1,099 and the 15-inch version starts at 1,299. Those looking to save a few bucks can opt for the last-gen 13-inch M2 MacBook Air, which now retails at $999. Unsurprisingly, the 15-inch M2 MacBook Air has been delisted from Apple's website, meaning you may have to snag it from other places. You can pre-order both laptops now from Apple's website, with general availability kicking off on March 8.
