New Lenovo Android tablet launching soon with 'paper-like' display
Lenovo had a busy MWC this year, with new members of its ThinkBook, ThinkPad and ThinkVision series all showcased alongside concept devices like the ThinkBook Transparent Display Laptop and the Motorola Adaptive Display Concept. However, Windows Report has also discovered that a revised Tab P12 is in the final stages of development. For context, Lenovo released the Tab P12 in July 2023 as one of the first devices powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 7050 chipset.
According to Windows Report, the Tab P12 will return this year with an unchanged chipset. Similarly, the new Tab P12 has an unchanged 10,200 mAh battery and runs Android 13 with the promise of updates until Android 15. Moreover, this year's model will retain its predecessor's quad speakers, up to 8 GB of RAM and a USB 2.0 Type-C port that can recharge its battery at up to 30 W. In fact, it seems that Lenovo has only tweaked the Tab P12's display for its 2024 refresh.
Specifically, the unreleased model is said to feature a matte display finish that Windows Report describes as a 'paper-like anti-glare LCD'. As far as we can tell, Lenovo intends to give the new Tab P12 the look and feel of an E-reader or a notetaking device when paired with the Tab Pen Plus while retaining the visual acuity of an IPS panel. With that being said, the display still measures 12.7-inches across and delivers a 60 Hz refresh rate with a 1,500:1 contrast ratio and a 2,944 x 1,840-pixel native resolution. While Windows Report has revealed product images and device specifications, there is no word on a release date or launch pricing yet.
