Even in a crowded marketplace, the Steam Deck LCD remains an appealing budget gaming handheld. Buyers can choose from a constantly growing library of verified games. With ergonomics that have stood the test of time, the Steam Deck price is $80 lower during this Black Friday deal.
Released in 2022, the Steam Deck LCD specs include a 7-inch 1280 x 800 display with a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz. Headlined by two trackpads, many gamers consider its layout more functional than alternatives. Four back buttons empower users to remap inputs to more accessible locations.
Windows gaming handhelds have tried to emulate Valve’s streamlined interface. The Xbox Full Screen Experience has arrived on more devices, but it sometimes struggles to keep the focus on gaming.
One reason why the Steam Deck has had such lasting appeal is its usability. Reviews of the Valve system note how the SteamOS accommodates controllers without needing tweaks. Also, the handheld stays in sleep mode more reliably while remaining on call for instant action.
More games than ever run on the Steam Deck
The selection of Steam Games has also expanded over time, aided by the Proton compatibility layer. Over 19,000 titles are verified to meet Valve’s performance standards. That said, popular shooters that depend on anti-cheat measures may require a Windows partition. Otherwise, Arc Raiders is available for players on the go, but Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7 are exceptions.
Buyers who prefer to game at home might decide to wait for the Steam Machine. Still, with the official dock, the Steam Deck price is likely to be much lower than the new cube. Coupled with the accessory, the gaming handheld can rival the versatility of the Switch 2.
A greater threat to the Valve handheld currently on sale is the Lenovo Legion Go S with an 8-inch screen. Now shipping with SteamOS, it’s been discounted to as low as $450 for Black Friday. Nevertheless, the Steam Deck LCD deal is even cheaper at $319.20 and is also a lighter and more portable option.
