The Lenovo Legion Go S launched at the beginning of the year, not as a successor to the Legion Go, but as a sort of step sibling. Available in Windows and SteamOS versions, the Legion Go S had a starting price of $599.99 for the SteamOS version and $649.99 for the Windows variant. Now, buyers can purchase both versions for less as a result of the ongoing Black Friday sales.
Both Best Buy and Amazon have slashed the price of the Legion Go S for Black Friday, however, neither of the deals are as good as the deal from July which had the Legion Go S (Windows) with a Ryzen Z1 Extreme, 32GB RAM, and 1TB storage for $499.99. Nevertheless, you are still saving some money even with these new deals.
The Legion Go S (with Windows) with a Ryzen Z2 Go processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage is available to buy for $579.99 on Amazon. That is $70 off its launch price, but Amazon says it is 15% off its typical price of $683.77. While you can purchase this and just install SteamOS on it, you may want to give Windows a try, especially now that the Xbox Full Screen Experience is available for all Windows handhelds. You should also watch our video comparing both the Windows and SteamOS versions.
Best Buy, on the other hand, has the Legion Go S (powered by SteamOS) with the same configuration above for $449.99, $100 off its launch price, or according to Best Buy, $200 off its comparable value price of $649.99. The SteamOS version has a purple finish, unlike the Windows version which is white.
If you want more power, RAM, and storage, Best Buy also has the Legion Go S (powered by SteamOS) with a Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, 32GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD for $649.99, $250 off its comparable value price of $899.99.
The Legion Go S is definitely a cheaper option to the Legion Go 2 which starts at $1099. Although that cheaper price comes with some missing features such as a smaller LCD screen, lack of detachable controllers, and less-powerful processors. It also doesn't have an integrated kickstand, although you can purchase the Lenovo Legion Go Power Bank which has a kickstand and magnetically attaches to the back of the Legion Go S.
