Sonos Ace: New Sonos over-ear wireless headphones released with high-end hardware to take on established order
Sonos has finally released the Ace, a pair of over-ear headphones that should impress not just because of their simple design but also their hardware and ergonomics. To that end, the Sonos Ace weighs 312 g, which makes the headphones much lighter than many of their peers. Likewise, Sonos' has included foam ear pads covered in synthetic leather to maximise comfort.
Supposedly, the Sonos Ace can be worn with accessories like earrings and glasses too, unlike many over-ear headphones. Meanwhile, a simple slider controls volume, as well as calls and media playback. Unfortunately, the Sonos Ace does not have a 3.5 mm jack. Instead, you must connect the headphones through Bluetooth, for which it supports Qualcomm aptX Lossless, or USB Type-C.
Moreover, the Sonos Ace has 40 mm dynamic drivers, eight microphones that handle active noise cancellation (ANC) and transparency modes, plus motion sensors that support head tracking and 3D audio. The Sonos Ace is already orderable for $449 in the US, €499 in the Eurozone and £449 in the UK. Alternatively, the headphones can be bought as a pair for a saving of €50, $45 and £45. Please see Sonos' website for more details.
