Slim Mechrevo laptop launches with unusual AMD Zen 5 APU and Nvidia RTX 5060

Mechrevo has launched one of the first gaming laptops that's powered by the Ryzen 7 449. This is among the two APUs in the AMD Gorgon Point lineup that don't come with an NPU, which is why it doesn't have "AI" in its name.

Under the hood, however, the APU has a similar CPU configuration to the Ryzen AI 7 450, featuring four Zen 5 cores and four Zen 5c cores. The iGPU is the same as well: the Radeon 860M, which is the successor to the Radeon 760M and is suitable for lightweight workloads.

While the Ryzen 7 449 doesn't have a powerful iGPU, Mechrevo has paired it with the Nvidia RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, making the system capable of smoothly handling most AAA games at the 1080p resolution with the "high" visual preset.

Mechrevo notes that the laptop features a dual-fan cooling setup that allows the CPU to offer up to 85W of performance. On the front, the Phenom (or Wing Dragon) 15 Air has a 15.3-inch QHD OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, and factory color calibration.

The design is another highlight of the laptop. It's said to be 18.75mm thin and weigh around 1.6kg (about 3.52lbs). While it's relatively lightweight and thin, there's a decent port configuration, with three USB-A, one USB-C, and one USB4 (ThinkPad USB4 Dock 5000 curr. $154.99 on Amazon). For wireless connectivity, the system has WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

In China, the laptop is available in one configuration, which comes with 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 1TB SSD. The launch price is CNY 11,499, around $1,709. While Mechrevo has some international presence, it's not known for bringing all its products outside the Chinese market. So, it's unclear whether the Phenom 15 Air will go global.
