MySmartPrice has now revealed the first press image of the Galaxy Z Flip5, shortly after releasing an equivalent image of the Galaxy Z Fold5. While Samsung is yet to confirm that new Galaxy Z devices are ready for release, it teased as much when outlining details about its 27th Galaxy Unpacked event. MySmartPrice has only offered up one Galaxy Z Flip5 image so far, although we expect that this will not be the last time that we see leaked official images before the device's release.
As expected, the Galaxy Z Flip5 has a larger cover display than its predecessor, which maintained the 1.9-inch cover display of the Galaxy Z Flip3. A 3.4-inch panel will arrive in its place, albeit one that does not wrap around the device's cameras and LED flash like the new Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. Reportedly, Google and Samsung have collaborated to optimise several of the former's apps, including Maps, Messages and YouTube. Presumably, the Galaxy Z Flip5 will carry over all the functionality of its predecessor's cover display too, such as various widgets and the ability to favourite installed apps.
This year's Galaxy Z Flip is also the first model expected to fold flat without a gap when closed. MySmartPrice's leaked image does not confirm this, but it appears that Samsung has reworked its hinge mechanism between the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Flip5, with a thinner frame visible on the latter than the former. Samsung will present the Galaxy Z Flip5 at the end of July with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset, twin 120 Hz AMOLED displays and a 3,700 mAh battery that supports 25 W charging, among other features. Pricing has not leaked yet, but details about numerous accessories have, as have the device's alleged launch colours.
