Samsung Galaxy Watch5: European prices and colour options leak for Pro and non-Pro models
Roland Quandt has shared numerous details about the Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro, not long after Evan Blass outlined the pair's various colour and material options. For reference, Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Watch5 series on August 26 with the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 at a Galaxy Unpacked event. Based on the company's One UI Watch beta programme, the Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro will ship with One UI Watch 4.5 based on Wear OS 3.5; it seems unlikely that Wear OS 4 will arrive for a while yet.
According to Quandt, the Galaxy Watch5 series will start at around €300. However, it is worth stressing that European pricing may not directly convert to other currencies. For example, European prices include VAT, unlike the US. For context, the entry-level Galaxy Watch4 retailed for US$249.99 at launch, but cost €269 in the Eurozone. Either way, it seems that the Galaxy Watch5 will be at least €30 more expensive than its predecessor. The price gap varies between models though, especially considering that there will be no direct successor to the Galaxy Watch4 Classic.
While Quandt has rounded these prices to the nearest €10, it seems more likely that Samsung will continue to sell Galaxy Watch smartwatches with prices ending in '9'. As such, the full expected pricing for the Galaxy Watch5 series is:
- Galaxy Watch5
- 40 mm (Bluetooth) - €299
- 40 mm (LTE) - €349
- 44 mm (Bluetooth) - €349
- 44 mm (LTE) - €399
- Galaxy Watch5 Pro
- 45 mm (Bluetooth) - €489
- 45 mm (LTE) - €539
As far as we can tell, both 40 mm versions of the Galaxy Watch5 will be €30 pricier than their predecessors. In comparison, Quandt's leak suggests that 44 mm versions will launch for €50 more than the larger Galaxy Watch4. Incidentally, Quandt adds that the Galaxy Watch5 will be available in Pink Gold, Grey and Silver colourways. Moreover, Quandt claims that the Galaxy Watch5 Pro will start at nearly €500, outstripping the most expensive Galaxy Watch4 Classic by €50. Allegedly, the Galaxy Watch5 Pro will feature a titanium build with a sapphire glass display, which may explain the price rise. Either way, the Galaxy Watch5 Pro is rumoured to retain the Galaxy Watch4 Classic's two colour options, black and silver.
