Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7
When compared directly to its larger sibling Galaxy Tab S7+, the Galaxy Tab S7 looks like a second-rate tablet. However, in reality, the Galaxy Tab S7 is actually a very impressive tablet and is better than its larger sibling. Read our review to find out why.

Samsung's been trying to make the Galaxy Tab S-series slates a big deal for a while, and if its recent Tab S6 Lite was the company's first true home run, the Tab S7 is another homer with a couple of runners on base. From its excellent bright and sharp screen to its top-tier design, this is a tablet that Apple fans may call an iPad Pro clone, but it's one that Android users need to consider.

Let’s start with the elephant in the room. Samsung Galaxy Tab S7’s display is a touchscreen, and has a WQXGA resolution, delivering a crispy image. Its viewing angles are great, its backlight doesn’t flicker and it covers 90% of the DCI-P3 gamut. Interestingly, the 120Hz refresh rate doesn’t correlate with the pixel response times, which are a bit slow, to be honest.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7 Plus are two of the highest-quality Android slates on the market. If you're serious about an Android tablet, look no further. As good as the hardware is, however, the software sometimes falls flat with apps that aren't optimized for the experience.

We’ve been using and reviewing iPads on YouTube for over 4 years now, and the last few years we've been putting them head to head with Samsungs offerings. At first the Galaxy Tab's were fairly mediocre, but as time went on they got better. With the Galaxy Tab S7's new 120HZ display and Snapdragon 865+ processor, along with new speakers, keyboard case, and S-pen performance Samsung finally has an absolutely fantastic tablet in their lineup and one that comes in quite a bit less expensive than the 2020 iPad Pro.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 aims to be the best Android productivity tablet on the market, but it only strengthens the case for Apple's less expensive iPad Air.

What a time to be a tablet shopper. Apple just launched a major revision to its iPad Air, and also gave the plain old basic iPad a power boost. Microsoft's Surface series makes regular Windows 10 feel more like a tablet experience. And Samsung has a new pair of premium tablets -- the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7 Plus -- that emphasize both office work and gaming.

Android as a whole has problems that Google and developers still need to address, but for the time being, the Galaxy Tab S7 stands out as the best Android tablet you can buy. Samsung knocked it out of the park with the hardware, offering a premium design, 120Hz display, blazing-fast performance, and solid battery life. The S Pen is also included for free, touting the same reduced latency introduced on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

As a tablet, the S7+ shines. It has a big, beautiful 120hz display that’s great for watching videos or sketching on, and the useful S Pen is included. But as a laptop stand-in, the Tab S7+ struggles due to software that’s inconsistent and unintuitive. Still, if you don’t expect it to fully replace your PC, the Tab S7+ is a capable machine.

At the end of my testing period, I mostly became frustrated because Samsung made some forward progress compared to last year’s Tab S6, and there are things I like or even love about the Tab S7. The hardware is top-notch, the display is perhaps the best you can get on any mobile device, and the audio experience is excellent. These really are the best media consumption tablets I’ve ever used, and I’d rather pick up the S7 Plus to watch the latest episode of Lovecraft Country than an iPad Pro.

If you'd asked me a few years ago which Android tablet to buy, I'd probably have said to stop looking. Buy an iPad. Buy a Surface Pro. Buy anything else. If you ask me today, the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7 Plus are the clear-cut best options. They both have gorgeous displays, premium designs, top-notch accessories, and even 5G support for those who need the fastest internet speeds outside of the home.

Samsung's been trying to make the Galaxy Tab S-series slates a big deal for a while, and the recent Tab S6 Lite was the first true home run for the tablet lineup. Once we get more time to test this tablet and complete this Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 review, we'll have a better idea if Apple's finally got company in the first class section of the tablet plane.

And while the Tab S7 looks like it will offer speedy performance and a brilliant display, it's just as important that it delivers great battery life, too. The Galaxy Tab S6 only lasted 8 hours and 58 minutes on a single charge, and we hope the Galaxy Tab S7 will enter the double-digits club when it comes to how many hours it will last.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 looks to be one of the best Android tablets out there right now. It’s not the most exciting market in 2020, but the Galaxy Tab S7 looks like a credible alternative to an iPad from our testing so far.

Samsung has made a powerful, really nice looking tablet with a 120Hz screen and great S Pen functionality. For £619 it seems a good deal – however, it’ll be all down to Android feels on this device and whether the trade-offs might mean there are better options elsewhere. Qualcomm Adreno 650: Graphics chip for smartphones and tablets that is integrated within the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. Qualcomm claims that it is 25% faster than the Adreno 640 in the Snapdragon 855 SoC and offers 50% more compute units (ALUs). For Android it should be one of the fastest graphics cards in 2020.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

SD 865+ (Plus): High-end SoC for smartphones that was introduced in mid 2020 and manufactured in 7 nm at TSMC (improved N7P). Integrates one “Prime Core” based on a ARM Cortex-A77 architecture clocked at up to 3.1 GHz. Three more performance cores are also based on the A77 but clock up to 2.42 GHz. Furthermore, four energy saving cores are integrated that are based on the ARM Cortex-A55 architecture and clock at up to 1.8 GHz. In addition to the processor cores, the SoC integrates a WiFi 6E modem (including 60 GHz mmWave support), a Hexagon 698 DSP (up to 15 TOPS) and a Spectra 480 ISP. The integrated memory controller supports LPDDR5 memory with up to 2,750 MHz. LTE is not included anymore in the SoC, but the external Snapdragon X55 5G modem has to be used.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
11.00":
This is a typical display size for tablets and small convertibles.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.
0.5 kg:
This is pretty heavy for a smartphone. Usually, small tablets weigh as much.
