SZDiiER R35 Plus released as new retro gaming handheld to take on Anbernic RG35XX series with dual joysticks
SZDiiER has released a new retro gaming handheld, as noticed by the likes of Retro Handhelds. Aligning with rumours, the R35 Plus contains the same underlying hardware as the D-007 that it unveiled almost a year ago. As such, SZDiiER equips the R35 Plus with a Rockchip RK3326, a quad-core chipset consisting of ARM Cortex-A35 CPU cores clocked at 1.5 GHz.
Additionally, the Rockchip RK3326 provides the R35 Plus with a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, plus support for up to DDR4 RAM, among other features. Unfortunately, SZDiiER has not confirmed how much RAM the R35 Plus offers. However, the D-007 would suggest that the R35 Plus combines its Rockchip RK3326 with 1 GB of LPDDR3L RAM.
Moreover, the R35 Plus finds itself with a 3.5-inch IPS display that outputs at 640 x 480 pixels, along with a 3,000 mAh battery, the usual set of gamepad buttons and two built-in joysticks. Based on D-007 reviews, the R35 Plus will be powerful enough to emulate Game Boy Advance and SNES games. The R35 Plus can emulate N64 and PlayStation 1 games too, although some titles may be too intensive for the Rockchip RK3326. Currently, the R35 Plus is available from multiple sellers for under $40 on AliExpress in translucent black, orange and purple finishes, as well as a solid colour option described as grey.
