Rumors suggest Apple Watch with round display or no screen at all

The Apple Watch Series 11 ($299 on Amazon) is very reminiscent of the first-generation Apple Watch – the rectangular display, the position of the Digital Crown and the additional button on the right side, and even some of the watch faces have remained virtually unchanged over the past twelve years. Today, just as back then, the smartwatch is essentially a mini-iPhone. According to the latest information from Bloomberg, Apple is now considering more significant changes.

The Apple Watch Series 12 and the Apple Watch Ultra 4, set to be unveiled in September, are expected to receive only minor upgrades, led by a significantly more powerful processor. However, Apple is reportedly already working on new premium options beyond the Ultra and Hermès models, led by a version with an ultralight, scratch-resistant ceramic case that will hit the market either this year or next. Even more exciting, though, is that Apple is reportedly already experimenting internally with several new form factors.

Among them is a variant of the Apple Watch that completely does away with a display to compete with Whoop, Fitbit Air, and Garmin Cirqa. Apple is also said to be working on an Apple Watch with a round display instead of a rectangular one, which could thus resemble an analog watch much more closely than the current Apple Watch. While the iPhone maker reportedly hasn’t yet decided whether or when these completely redesigned versions of the Apple Watch will hit the market, Apple is said to intend to completely reinvent its in-house wearables to offer customers more options.
