RedMagic Astra rears its head with global release on the horizon

The dust has barely settled on the launch of the Gaming Tablet 3 Pro, which RedMagic delivered earlier today in China. Nonetheless, the company has already moved on to the release of its global alternative. Like the RedMagic Nova before it, the Gaming Tablet 3 Pro will arrive globally under a different name than RedMagic refers to it in its home market.

Specifically, RedMagic has now confirmed that the Gaming Tablet 3 Pro will be available globally as the RedMagic Astra. Not only that, but it has hinted that the RedMagic Astra retains the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, ICE-X cooling system and 9.06-inch OLED display found in its Chinese sibling. For reference, the latter also delivers a 165 Hz refresh rate with 1,600 nits peak brightness.

Thus, the Astra should deliver a superior gaming experience than the Legion Tab Gen 3 or the iPad mini 7 (curr. $399.99 on Amazon), against which RedMagic frequently compared its tablet across Chinese social media. Currently, RedMagic states that the Astra will arrive on July 1 at 12:00 UTC. Based on past performance, this date will be when pre-orders open for those who signed up via email to receive early access through RedMagic's website.
