Razer Book 13 and Intel NUC M15 are the fastest laptops thus far with the 11th gen Core i7-1165G7 CPU

Laptops with Intel Tiger Lake CPUs have been slowly trickling in and, as expected, some models are performing better than others. We wanted to see how wide of a gap exists between the slowest Core i7-1165G7 laptop and the fastest Core i7-1165G7 laptop we have in our database thus far in terms of raw CPU and GPU performance. Results will likely change over time, but this should give a good idea of what buyers can expect from units that are already on store shelves.

Near the top of the list are the 15.6-inch Schenker Vision 15 and 13.4-inch Razer Book 13 as their CPUs are roughly 20 to 30 percent faster than the average Core i7-1165G7 according to CineBench benchmarks. The Razer system, however, appears to score higher more consistently. These two laptops overperform likely because of Razer's history as a performance-driven gaming laptop maker and the fact that the Vision 15 is actually an Intel-designed NUC M15 chassis. After all, it would've been embarrassing for Intel if an Intel-made laptop had slower-than-expected CPU performance.

The bottom of the list is populated by the 13.3-inch Asus ZenBook Flip S UX371 convertible and 14-inch ZenBook 14 UX425E with multi-thread CineBench scores that are roughly 35 and 15 percent slower, respectively, than the average Core i7-1165G7 in our database. The deficits can be attributed to the poorer Turbo Boost sustainability on the two Asus laptops as exemplified by our CineBench R15 xT loop test below. Scores would drop more steeply over time as opposed to the more stable Schenker or Razer.

As for raw Iris Xe graphics performance, the Vision 15, Razer Book 13, and Acer Swift 5 SF514 are neck-to-neck for the top spot according to 3DMark benchmarks. In actual games, however, the Razer system is able to edge out both in more titles likely because of the extra boost it gets from its faster CPU.

If you mostly web browse, stream, or email on your laptop, then these performance differences between models won't play a huge part in your daily usage. The lighter and more portable laptop would be the bigger deciding factor in such a scenario. On the other hand, performance users who want to squeeze as much power as possible out of their processors may want to look at either the Intel NUC M15 or the Razer Book 13.
