The latest Adrenalin driver update has brought some performance improvements for the RX 9070 XT, now giving it an edge over the RTX 5070 Ti. Perfect timing as the GPU is now starting to come back down to its actual MSRP of $600.

The Radeon RX 9070 XT is AMD’s flagship GPU offering for this generation and it competes with the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti, though it is slightly slower than the latter on average. Now, with the latest driver update, the situation has changed as the RX 9070 XT has got a performance boost making it faster than the more expensive RTX 5070 Ti on average, in gaming.

AMD continues to offer better value with its Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs as the latest Adrenalin driver update 25.6.3 has given the RX 9070 XT just enough of a boost to outperform the RTX 5070 Ti. As tested by Hardware Unboxed (video linked below), the AMD GPU proved to be 3% faster than the Nvidia offering on average in 16 games at 1440p.

Compared to the review drivers, the RX 9070 XT was 9% faster at 1440p and 4% faster at 4K. The performance of the RTX 5070 Ti has also improved since launch, netting a 2.5% increase at 1440p and 3% increase at 4K with the latest drivers.

While these single digit performance gains may not seem as impressive, some games have seen significant improvements compared to the review drivers. Games like Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Counter-Strike 2, and Hogwarts Legacy saw 27%, 23%, and 14% gains at 1440p. Several other games also saw a 10% to 15% performance boost with the latest drivers.

This puts the cheaper RX 9070 XT ahead of its Team Green competitor, which is around $200 more expensive. As Hardware Unboxed points out, the price difference is a more interesting factor to consider. Moreover, even though both the RTX 5070 Ti and Radeon RX 9070 XT are selling for much higher than their MSRPs, the AMD offering is slowly coming back down closer to its launch price of $600. This drop in price has been linked to fading demand for the RX 9070 XT, which is good news for those who waited to purchase the latest generation GPU.
