Many projects are emerging in the video game industry, allowing players to discover new stories. However, some titles suffer the opposite effect, as is the case with these games that were secretly canceled by PlayStation.
For this, we must turn to The Order: 1886, which was released on PS4 in 2015, and which marked the spirits for its technical aspect and its impressive story. And since its release, fans have often asked for a sequel, and PlayStation seems to have heard their request.
However, things did not go as planned, as Ru Weerasuriya, creative director at Ready at Dawn, explained in an interview with the French journalist Julien Chièze. According to him, the studio had already written a script of more than ten pages with the aim of creating a trilogy with the sequels The Order: 1891 and The Order: 1899.
In terms of gameplay, a multiplayer mode was to be added so that it would not be limited to single player, and the story was also to be extended into the 20th century with more detailed characters. But while this may appeal to fans of the game, it should be noted that PlayStation has decided to cancel these plans.
According to Andrea Pessino, co-founder of Ready at Dawn, the Japanese company preferred to stop these games due to mixed reviews of The Order: 1886. In other words, it did not believe in the future of this license.
But despite the disappointment felt by some fans, The Order: 1886 is currently playable on the PS5 thanks to backward compatibility. But be warned, because you may find yourself divided between two emotions. You may be captivated by its artistic direction, but also frustrated by the many untapped potentials.
