While developer Team Cherry has yet to officially release an Android port of Hollow Knight: Silksong, Chinese developers have already released an unofficial mobile port of the game. The latest update brings many optimizations.

Hollow Knight: Silksong has been quite successful, with the game recently reaching the 6-million copies sold milestone. Although it was already possible to play it on Android phones through emulators, the game recently got an unofficial mobile port.

Of course, the unofficial mobile port didn't see a smooth release. The Chinese devs behind it first offered beta releases. Even though these betas ran natively, they had many performance-related issues. However, at the current stage, the unofficial Android Hollow Knight: Silksong port reportedly runs smoothly.

It's worth noting that the mobile port is all over the place, and these unofficial game ports can be shady. After all, they don't usually come from a trusted source. However, per the posts on r/EmulationOnAndroid, the latest update, version 1.0.5b, offers many improvements over the past versions.

This update offers improved touch controls, removing the PlayStation buttons that the betas relied on. The latest version also allows users to customize buttons according to their preferences. There's support for controllers, and this is a big plus, as a mobile controller can make the whole experience a lot better than touch controls (GameSir X2s curr. $35.99 on Amazon). There are performance optimizations as well, and the unofficial Android port can reportedly run at 120 FPS on a capable phone.

One thing to note, however, is that the unofficial mobile port initializes in Chinese. The good part is that it's possible to change the language from the settings menu. Now, while all these sound great, it's always recommended to be cautious with sideloading unofficial releases like these, as they can contain malware. To be on the safer side, it's better to buy Hollow Knight: Silksong on Steam and get it emulated with a trusted emulator.
