Following earlier successes such as Rage Quit and Not Raised By Wolves, the Vancouver Film School has released another free game project: Unknown Fluffy Object, which launched on October 3. Like its predecessors, it offers a compact ten-minute experience built around a fresh concept and creative gameplay.
In Unknown Fluffy Object, you play as Buddy, a herding dog tasked with rescuing his flock from mysterious UFOs in the Scottish Highlands. Your goal is to guide the sheep across rivers, cliffs and fields, overcoming obstacles while keeping them safe from alien threats. Buddy’s secret weapon is his “super barking power,” which allows him to repel UFOs. Alongside the core herding mechanics, the game features light challenges and mini-games that add variety to the experience. However, its compatibility with the Steam Deck (currently priced at $620 on Amazon) is listed as “Unknown.”
So far, the latest student project from the Vancouver Film School has been met with strong praise on Steam. Since its release, Unknown Fluffy Object has received 24 user reviews – all of them positive. Players highlight the game’s charming art style and inventive mechanics. Major complaints are rare; some mention minor technical issues or the short playtime, but given that the game is completely free, most consider these easy to overlook.
