OnePlus Nord 2T: Official renders surface in two colours with an unnecessarily large camera housing
Digital Chat Station has revealed official renders of the OnePlus Nord 2T, another mid-range smartphone by the company. Like many recent OnePlus releases, the Nord 2T borrows its design from other smartphones under the BBK Electronics umbrella. The Nord 2T retains OnePlus' signature alert slider though, unlike the OnePlus Ace and the OnePlus 10R.
Additionally, the renders confirm that the OnePlus Nord 2T will arrive in light green and dark grey colourways. According to @_snoopytech_, OnePlus will market these colours as Jade Fog and Grey Shadow, respectively. Also, the leaker adds that the OnePlus Nord 2T will come in two memory configurations, starting with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Purportedly, OnePlus will sell 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage variants too, mirroring last year's Nord 2.
Incidentally, the official renders show the Nord 2T's large rear-facing camera housing, which is rumoured to contain 50 MP primary (Sony IMX766), 8 MP ultra-wide and 2 MP monochrome cameras, plus two LED sensors. Arguably, the camera housing is too large, given the poor use of space in the bottom ring. At any rate, the Sony IMX766 will do most of the heavy lifting for the Nord 2T, apart from in terms of selfies, which will be handled by a 32 MP front-facing sensor.
Currently, it is unclear when OnePlus will announce the Nord 2T. However, the company is expected to equip the handset with a Dimensity 1300 chipset. For reference, MediaTek builds the Dimensity 1300 around four ARM Cortex-A78 cores, four Cortex-A55 cores and a 9-core Mali GPU, all based on a TSMC N6 node.
