OnePlus has confirmed the launch of the OnePlus 10R 5G on April 28 alongside the Nord CE 2 Lite 5G. Now, the company is also confirming that the OnePlus 10R will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max. The Dimensity 8100-Max is a custom SoC specifically for the 10R.
The original MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC features a quad-core Cortex-A78 cluster clocked at up to 2.85 GHz and another Cortex-A55 cluster at up to 2.0 GHz. The SoC has a Mali-G610 MC6 GPU along with an MediaTek 580 APU.
OnePlus also claims similar specifications of the 8100-Max, so it is not clear as to what the exact differences are. The company did say that the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU is about 20% faster than its predecessor. Whether that applies in general or specifically to the OnePlus 10R remains to be seen.
Apart from the MediaTek 8100-Max SoC, the OnePlus 10R also features a 4,500 mAh battery that can be topped-up quickly via SuperVOOC 150 W fast charging — OnePlus claims this can charge the phone from 1% to 100% in just about 17 minutes.
This year, OnePlus hasn't launched a non-Pro version of the 10 Series. This probably makes sense as the 9R last year could have actually been the OnePlus 9 than just a refreshed OnePlus 8T. There are no indications of any Hasselblad branding here, since this is more of an upper-midrange device.
Hopefully the OnePlus 10R 5G can live up to the hype. We should know more come April 28.
