OnePlus recently launched the Chinese-market version of its inaugural up-to-150W charging smartphone as the Ace. Now, it seems that another phone under its new series' name is on the way. Leaks pointing to this "Racing Edition" allegedly correspond to earlier tips revolving around a vaguely 10 Pro-like device spotted on the TENAA database.
91Mobiles now claims that its latest factory-fresh leak reveals that this phone, reportedly certified as the PGZ110 with the Chinese authorities, will launch as the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition. Then again, its looks and specs may fail to match up to its new alleged name in some fans' eyes.
It has the same dark gray 10 Pro-esque rear panel from its initial leak; however, this time, it is presented in a hands-on-style photo that purports to reveal that one of its 2x2 camera-hump apertures is taken up by a non-functional shiny button with the term "64MP" emblazoned on it.
Furthermore, as the new image suggests, it seems one can peel this panel off and away from the back of the phone with relatively ease, thereby hinting that it is made of something much more flexible than Gorilla Glass such as plastic.
There is not enough to say that it is meant to be removable by design (probably not, although it just might have a classically OnePlus sandstone-like texture); however, the logo on the back indicates that it is to launch under this brand name and not that of OPPO as may have been thought earlier.
The "Racing Edition" is also now painted as a budget alternative for the first-gen Ace, as it is now linked to an LCD display rather than the AMOLED of its putative flagship sibling. Then again, it may get 8GB RAM SKUs and may have a high-res (if not particularly up-to-date) main camera, at least. How OnePlus' base may react should it launch in markets such as India as the 10R Lite as rumored has yet to be seen.
