The OnePlus 13 achieved an impressive battery size upgrade (on paper, at least) in 2024 - however, those looking for even more might be advised to hold out for its successor, according to a new leak.
It purports to confirm that the next generation of top-end Android smartphones will feature new batteries of 7,000mAh in capacity - if not more, possibly topping out at 7,500mAh in some models.
Should that prediction prove true, it would put the $749, 7,050mAh RedMagic 10 Pro ahead of the curve.
Furthermore, it could pan out in the launch of a OnePlus 14 with a guaranteed spec bump of 1,000mAh compared to its predecessor.
Others such as the Oppo Find X9 Pro or Vivo X300 Pro might also join in on this alleged battery monster fun by the end of this year.
Premium smartphones with such upgrades were once thought to launch with the disadvantage of slower charging. However, that is no longer the case, according to the typically knowledgeable leaker Digital Chat Station, who now suggests that the OnePlus 13's successor will still be able to support the brand's extra-fast 100W wired charging tech.
The 13 also has 50W wireless charging, which can also apparently be maintained in the 14 - presuming it does not make a newly rumored upgrade to 80W.
Meanwhile, further upgrades to 8,000mAh batteries are now apparently also on the table - although they might be exclusive to mid-rangers such as a successor to the Realme Neo 7 in their initial roll-out.
