Official Lenovo spec sheet confirms ThinkPad T15g Gen 1 will have RTX 2080 Super, Intel Core i9-10980HK
We recently reported that a new gaming-focused ThinkPad with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q recently appeared on multiple certification sites. Now, a new spec sheet from Lenovo confirms that the ThinkPad T15g Gen 1 is coming, replete with high-end gaming hardware inside.
The spec sheet details a number of configurations available for the ThinkPad T15g Gen 1. CPU options include the Intel Core i5-10400H, Core i7-10750H, Core i7-10850H, Core i9-10885H, and the Core i9-10980HK. There are also two Xeon options from Intel: the Xeon W-10855M and the Xeon W-10885M.
Perhaps more interestingly, the ThinkPad T15g Gen 1 can be equipped with either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q or a GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q, both of which offer 8 GB of GDDR6 VRAM.
Other specifications are decidedly high-end, including up to 128 GB of either ECC or non-ECC DDR4 RAM (up to 4 DIMMs), a 15.6-inch display at either FHD or UHD (3840x2160) with HDR 400 support, and two M.2 2280 NVMe SSD slots. The T15g Gen 1 will come with either a 170 W or 230 W slim AC adapter, which should be enough to power the highest configuration.
While the presence of the RTX 2070 Super Max-Q and the RTX 2080 Super Max-Q imply the ThinkPad T15g Gen 1 will be a gaming ThinkPad, the option for a Xeon CPU is usually reserved for mobile workstations. Since we know the T15g Gen 1 uses the same chassis as Lenovo’s ThinkPad P15 workstation, it’s possible that the T15g Gen 1 is meant to bridge the gap between gamers and graphics/engineering professionals.
We’ll see who Lenovo targets then the ThinkPad T15g Gen 1 is officially released.
