The Nothing Phone (3) is making a rather controversial entrance to the stage, with many reviewers expressing their disappointment in the design choices made by Nothing. Pricing is also an issue, as many reviewers and fans find it too expensive for what it offers.
While the Nothing Phone (3) boasts an eye-catching design and a distinctive camera setup, uniqueness doesn’t always translate to greatness. The arrangement of its three 50-megapixel rear cameras lacks visual harmony — apart from the fact that they form a triangle. Nothing also added a dot-matrix screen, which it placed just beside the cameras, making the whole design look more asymmetric. A few people expressed appreciation for its uniqueness, while the rest booed.
The top comment on Nothing's official video on YouTube said the Nothing Phone (3a) (curr. $459 on Amazon) looks more flagship that the Nothing Phone (3) which the company is touting as a flagship. The second comment mocked the camera setup, and the third expressed disappointment at the design Nothing came up with after 2 years of keeping its fans waiting.
Design aside, the pricing didn't sit well with people either. One YouTuber compared the price with that of devices like the Poco F7 Pro and OnePlus 13 (curr. $899.99 on Amazon). Many commenters said it was too costly, and some went as far as saying Nothing is copying Apple's crazy pricing system while having even less quality to show for it. One comment even said it wasn't worth the “flagship” tag. Here is a screenshot of comments from a review video of Nothing Phone (3).
Amid the backlash, many fans are saying they will stick to the Phone (3a) and the Phone (2). The coast is not looking clear for Nothing and the Nothing Phone (3) at the moment, but it might be too early to write them off.
