Ranking: Best 2-in-1 laptops with pen support
Q2 2025 update.
It isn't uncommon for a notebook to feature a touchscreen, but only select few support proper stylus input. This article highlights the best-rated convertibles and 2-in-1 tablets that are fully stylus-enabled.Marc Herter, ✓ Sebastian Jankowski (translated by DeepL) Published 🇩🇪 🇳🇱 ...
Convertible notebooks are valued for their versatility, functioning as both a laptop with all the benefits of a physical keyboard, and as a tablet with a touch-enabled display. Some such products also support active pens, making them ideal for graphic designers, image editors, and digital artists. They are also well-suited for taking handwritten notes.
This article lists and ranks recently released convertible PCs that fully support active pens.
Some notes regarding selecting products for the list below. A high-quality display is the most important feature for artists. Additionally, a convertible should have long battery life and a lightweight design for optimal mobility. In this list, systems are ranked by these criteria first and foremost. However, we do not evaluate the quality of the stylus itself, as this is often subjective and difficult to measure.
In Q4 2022, we started including Chromebooks, as professional graphics editing programs such as Krita are now available for Android and ChromeOS. Naturally, only the models reviewed by Notebookcheck are listed.

Editorial comment
The list below includes both convertible laptops, which are notebooks with a 360° hinge, and Windows tablets, which become convertibles when a keyboard is attached. The choice between these two categories is down to individual preference. A notable of most of the listed machines is that they operate very quietly.
Determining whether a stylus is included with a convertible can be challenging, as availability varies by region as well as SKU. If uncertain, please check with the retailer. There is also a lack of clarity regarding specific pen features. Even manufacturers themselves often cannot confirm details such as pen tilt support or compatibility with third-party styluses.
1st place - Lenovo Yoga 9 14 2in1 Gen 10. Elegant all-rounder with potential
In our testing, the Yoga 9 14 2in1 G10 proved to be an extremely well-made and robust convertible with a stylish aluminum casing. Powered by a Core Ultra 7 processor of Intel's Lunar Lake generation, it impresses with good system performance (7,219 points in PCMark 10) as well as quiet fans and excellent battery life - over 13 hours of Wi-Fi Web surfing, a solid number for longer creative sessions on the go. The included stylus fits comfortably in the hand while being very suitable for extensive note-taking or sketching. It attaches magnetically to the notebook when not in use.
The system's brilliant 14-inch OLED display (3,840 × 2,400 pixels) delivers razor-sharp images and impressive color space coverage of almost 100% sRGB, AdobeRGB and DCI-P3. After calibration, color fidelity is very decent with an average Delta-E of 2, which is a solid basis for professional image work. However, for creative professionals who rely on specific, software-selectable color profiles for their workflows, the lack of this specific option here may prove limiting. The screen's refresh rate of 60 Hz is also more standard than top class for a flagship convertible.
2nd place - HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14
The OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 is a convertible with a 14-inch and 120-Hz OLED touchscreen, plenty brightness, and with strong color reproduction. It covers almost the entire AdobeRGB color space with high accuracy, achieving a Delta-E of well below 3.
Powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor from the latest Lunar Lake generation, the device delivers solid performance for office applications and occasional video editing.
Its battery lasts nearly 14 hours in our Wi-Fi Web surfing test. Its aluminum alloy casing keeps the weight low at just 1.3 kg.
For connectivity, the OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 relies solely on USB-C ports (with two of them supporting Thunderbolt 4), along with a 3.5 mm headset jack.
Overall, the HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 is a well-balanced convertible with a high-quality display, strong performance, a lightweight design, and long battery life.
3rd place - Lenovo Yoga 7 2-in-1 16 (Gen 10). Long battery life
The Yoga 7 2-in-1 (10th generation) boasts strong battery life figures, such as the 20 hours it delivered in Notebookcheck's Wi-Fi Web surfing test. This enables extended work sessions without a power adapter. This mobility is supported by solid system performance thanks to the Intel Core Ultra 7 256V processor (7,367 points in PCMark 10) and an integrated Arc graphics unit, which also has sufficient reserves for graphics-accelerated applications and occasional games. Lenovo has also incorporated improvements such as optimized port positioning and reduced weight.
However, the basic IPS display-based configuration tested should be viewed with extreme caution by visual creatives. With a color space coverage of only around 58% sRGB and subpar color accuracy (calibrated Delta E ≈ 3.06), the display of this variant has clear limitations for color-critical tasks. The optionally available OLED version offers a visibly better image quality, although this comes at an additional cost. The exclusive support of compact M.2 2242 SSDs can also make storage upgrades down the line a little costlier than they would be otherwise.
4th place - Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable
The Latitude 7350 Detachable is a 2-in-1 tablet that deserves credit for its flexibility and long battery life. Featuring a 13-inch touchscreen and a detachable keyboard, it functions as both a tablet and a laptop. In Notebookcheck's Wi-Fi Web browsing test at 150 nits, the battery lasted over 10 hours. The high-resolution IPS display (2,880 × 1,920 pixels) offers good color space coverage and maximum brightness of around 500 cd/m², making it suitable for outdoor use.
The system is powered by Intel's Core Ultra 7 164U processor, which, while not the fastest, is sufficient for most tasks.
Its casing is made of aluminum and magnesium, contributing to a sturdy yet lightweight design. Connectivity options include two Thunderbolt 4 slash USB-C ports, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The test unit comes with a stylus, which fits into a recess in the detachable keyboard. However, the flat shape of the stylus can make it less ergonomic to use depending on what the user is doing.
5th place - HP Envy x360 2-in-1 14 (2024)
Slim aluminum casing, a vibrant OLED screen, a solid keyboard, and an Intel Core Ultra 5 of the power-efficient U series—there’s not much more a good convertible needs. The Envy x360 delivers exactly that, right out of the box. A stylus is also included, with the HP MPP 2.0 tech offering position detection and a comfortable feel. The lightweight 2-in-1 laptop further impresses with good audio, quiet fans, and excellent battery life. However, its 4-core Intel graphics adapter is not well-suited for gaming.
The 14-inch Envy x360: Versatile design, low emissions, and efficient componentry.
The only real drawback is the Core Ultra 5 125U's performance, which is du to the cooling system. HP failed to maximize the processor’s potential, leaving a significant portion of the convertible’s performance untapped.
6th place - HP EliteBook X Flip G1i 14 AI. Business excellence
The EliteBook X Flip G1i is a premium-class convertible that has its roots in the demanding business segment and builds a bridge from there to creative applications. It is characterized by a robust magnesium chassis, a comprehensive arsenal of security features and (optional) privacy technologies, as well as operating noise that remains impressively low even under load at 32 dB(A) or less. This creates an optimal environment for concentrated creative work. A precise, quiet keyboard and a stylus for the touch display come included.
For creatives, the 14-inch IPS could be a plus point. It offers very high average brightness of over 540 nits and an excellent contrast ratio of over 2,800:1. With a 98% coverage of the sRGB color space and good color accuracy after calibration (Delta-E ≈ 2.11), it provides a reliable basis for working within the sRGB spectrum. However, the Sure View filter quickly causes frustration unless you can look straight at the display. This hinders any creative work on the device.
The battery life of over 18 hours (Wi-Fi Web surfing) supports extended mobile use.
The performance of the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V SoC is fit for a variety of creative tasks, with the integrated Arc graphics ensuring an appealing 3D performance. The focus here is clearly on efficiency and cool, quiet operation, which is reflected in a PCMark 10 result of 6,931 points.
7th place - Lenovo ThinkPad X13 2-in-1 Gen 5. ThinkPad virtues for creatives
The ThinkPad X13 2in1 G5 continues the tradition of robust business devices as a compact 2-in-1 laptop with strengths such as a sturdy magnesium casing, high-quality input devices and a real-life battery runtime of over 12 hours. Particularly noteworthy is the responsive stylus integrated into the notebook's housing, which enables precise input on the touchscreen. The 13.3-inch IPS display in 16:10 format scores with almost complete sRGB coverage (97.1%) and excellent color accuracy after calibration (Delta-E ≈ 1.25). However, this is offset by only average brightness of around 300 nits and moderate contrast, even though Lenovo offers an optional brighter display variant.
Despite this solid basis and a price of over 2,000 euros, some wishes remain unfulfilled. The system performance (PCMark 10: 5,928 points) has stagnated for generations and is primarily sufficient for office applications and lighter creative tasks. Persistent points of criticism such as possible SSD throttling under load, the Lenovo Vantage software overloaded with advertising and ambiguities in the Wi-Fi equipment (advertised Wi-Fi 7 not available for some consumers) diminish the system's overall appeal. This 2-in-1 laptop is therefore primarily recommended for professional users and creative professionals who are looking for maximum portability, a precise sRGB display with pen and ThinkPad-typical reliability, but are willing to accept compromises in terms of performance and display brightness.
8th place - LG Gram Pro 2-in-1 16T90SP
Even thinner, even lighter, and still one of the most powerful LG Gram models we have tested—the Gram Pro 2-in-1 delivers on all fronts. Its OLED panel, speakers, and battery life are top-notch. The included LG Pen charges wirelessly, and the black lacquered magnesium casing adds to its appeal. At less than 15 mm thick, the system truly feels like a tablet when used in tablet mode. When lying on a table, it is even thinner than many writing pads, enhancing both ergonomics and usability.
LG takes the "Pro" part seriously. This model clearly stands out from standard Gram options.
The only notable omission is a card reader, which would make quick image and video editing more convenient. Due to its high computing power, the laptop generates significant heat, some of which is dissipated through the casing. As a result, the LG Gram Pro 2-in-1 quickly becomes quite warm under heavy load.
9th place - Asus ROG Flow Z13. A detachable for gaming
The ROG Flow Z13 (2025 model) defines a new class in the 13-inch segment as a gaming detachable and positions itself as a mobile workstation for the highest demands - both for gamers and creative professionals. At the heart of this performance explosion is AMD's new Ryzen AI Max+ 395 mobile processor with 16 Zen 5 cores, which unleashes multi-core CPU performance on a par with powerful desktop systems. This is complemented by the integrated Radeon 8060S graphics unit, which effortlessly competes with dedicated upper mid-range laptop GPUs. A unique feature is the ability to dynamically allocate a large part of the system memory to the GPU - in the test device with 32 GB RAM, this was up to 24 GB, posing an immense advantage for VRAM-intensive graphics, 3D and video applications. The bright (average 490 nits), color-accurate (calibrated Delta-E ≈ 1.1, 99.6% sRGB, approximately 90% AdobeRGB, 95% P3) and PWM-free 180-Hz WQHD IPS touch display delivers excellent image quality and supports precise pen input for detailed creative work.
Although deeply rooted in the ROG gaming DNA, this brute performance makes the Flow Z13 a highly interesting tool for professional creatives who don't want to compromise when editing high-resolution videos, complex 3D models or demanding image montages on the go. The improved battery life thanks to the larger battery, as well as the high-quality housing underline the mobile claim, while USB 4 and Wi-Fi 7 ensure future-proof connectivity.
Disadvantages. These include the permanently soldered RAM, the limited maintenance options (only the compact M.2 2230 SSD is accessible), the rather weak speakers and the noticeable noise generated by the fans in Turbo mode. The price of around 2,500 euros is considerable, but seems justified considering the buyer gets the highest performance per cubic centimeter in the detachable sector for their money.
10th place - Dell Latitude 7450 2-in-1
The Latitude 7450 2-in-1 is a business convertible designed for professionals who are frequently on the move. Its 14-inch touchscreen and flexible design allow it to function as both a laptop and a tablet. Powered by Intel's Core Ultra 7 165U vPro processor, it delivers strong performance for everyday tasks.
With battery life exceeding 10 hours, it can easily last through a full workday. The aluminum casing is both sturdy and stylish.
Its display is bright enough for most tasks, and color reproduction is excellent. However, there are two drawbacks: the screen response time is relatively slow, and the webcam quality could be improved. Overall, Dell's Latitude 7450 2-in-1 is a reliable choice for users seeking a powerful and versatile business device.
