The 5710 XpressAudio is undoubtedly the headline of HMD Global's 2022 feature phone event of today (July 12, 2022). It evokes classic Nokia button phone vibes in its design (in 2 two-tone colorways) - until you realise it is also a slider of sorts, in that part of its back can move downward to reveal a silo for TWS earbuds.
The 5710 XpressAudio also has dual 4G/LTE SIM slots thanks to its Unisoc T107 SoC and Mocor 4G RTOS - and can even use microSD cards of up to 32GB in size. Its ROM and RAM specs are more genre-appropriate, at 128MB and 48MB respectively.
Nokia also asserts that the 5710 XpressAudio can act as an MP3 player, and even has the increasingly rare spec of FM radio support. The brand also touts long screen-on times for its 2.8-inch QVGA screen, although its 1,450mAh battery does also have to power a pair of earbuds in this case. On that note, it is more than a slight shame that the new 5710 is stuck with a microUSB port for charging purposes.
Those who can overlook that discrepancy in order to see how this unusual use-case works out, and are located in Switzerland, Germany or Austria, can be the first to find out, as the Nokia 5710 XpressAudio is available in those markets from now, priced at either 89 CHF or €89.
