Nokia's European feature-phone launch event of today (July 12, 2022) has re-imagined the 8210 for the 2020s. This updated model's design matches that of the 1999 original closely - then again, that phone never had 4G/LTE, Bluetooth 5.0 or a 0.3MP rear camera. It will be available from August 2022 in its first few markets.
HMD Global has introduced a number of feature phones with the Mocor 4G RTOS driven by the Unisoc T107 SoC, support for 32GB microSD cards and FM radio today. However, unlike the 5710 XpressAudio, Nokia's other new button phone's specs are packed into a chassis styled after the classic 8210.
The 8210 4G does have some differences from the original besides the obvious, of course: this 2022 refresh upgrades to a 2.8-inch QVGA screen and a 1,450mAh battery - which is still removable. Nevertheless, Nokia backs it to last up to a week between charges thanks to its low-power UI - although it still promises a Snake app to enjoy with its "iconic" build.
Legacy tech and feature phone fans in Austria, Germany or Switzerland can pay €79/79 CHF for the experience of rocking an 8210 4G from August 2022. The retro phone will be available in red or blue colorways from that date in its new markets.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
