The same source who has already claimed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will actually be designated as the Nintendo Focus has offered up a whole lot more information, some of it being more believable than others. At the moment, this seems to be a case of another designer posing as a leaker to attract followers, which was the case of some decent but flawed Switch 2 concept designs we recently covered. So, as always, a pinch of salt is required, especially in regard to a tipster who is insistent the media-used name of “Switch 2” has been an incorrect placeholder for “Nintendo Focus.” Additionally, during the writing of this article, the source deleted the key relevant post; however, there is a screenshot of it below.
The most recent X post from this try-hard tipster states that Mario Kart 9 will be a launch title for the Nintendo Focus, so October 2024. According to the post, Mario Kart 9 has been in development since 2018 (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe came out in 2017) and is expected to be “Nintendo’s big crossover franchise” instead of Super Smash Bros. There is even a logo for Mario Kart 9 included, which of course could have been whipped up with a little bit of effort (compare with the 2020 fan-made example from Reddit posted below), and it supposedly comes from a 2022 “build”. Apparently, the source is attempting to get hold of further details about this game to share.
It is actually quite a brave presumption for the OP to make, as there is some quite fiery discussion in Nintendo fan forums about what the next Mario Kart title will even be called. Some have simply jumped from Mario Kart 8 to Mario Kart 9, some insist it should be Mario Kart 10 or Mario Kart X as Mario Kart Tour is classed as a main entry in the franchise, and there are even those who think Mario Kart 11 is correct as you should include Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the list too. Either way, the Nintendo Focus/Switch 2 will apparently get a Mario Kart successor to go along with Nintendo World, Relno Ramen Warrior, Arms 2, and F-Zero Titans.
Last but not least, the Nintendo Focus or Switch successor is purportedly getting a Pro controller that has been called the Focus Pro 1. According to the rumor, it comes with HD rumble and haptic feedback, paddles on the back, a microphone, and the OP even claims they have heard talk about a “heating and cooling pack”. Nintendo Focus backward compatibility has not been confirmed by this particular spurious source at the moment, but they have made the somewhat outrageous statement that Nintendo will want US$2.99 per game to make first-party titles backwards compatible, which if true and enforced would likely send the fandom into disapproving meltdown.
Here is the Pro Controller for Nintendo FOCUS. Now known as the "FOCUS Pro 1"
