New Nintendo Switch OLED Model special edition console purportedly incoming to celebrate Super Mario Bros. Wonder launch
The tipster billbil-kun has been sharing details about a new Nintendo Switch OLED Model special edition console, which appears to be set for a launch that handily almost coincides with that of the eagerly awaited Super Mario Bros. Wonder game. The leaker provides the alleged name of the console, its likely price, and even a potential launch date timeframe, but unfortunately it seems the Nintendo Switch OLED Model Mario Red Edition is bringing the most minimal changes possible with it, in that it will be in a red colorway.
Currently, Nintendo has two main editions of the Switch OLED Model, one in white with white Joy-Con and a black variant with neon blue and neon red Joy-Con. There are also three special editions: Splatoon 3, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Now it appears a fourth special edition, Nintendo Switch OLED Model Mario Red Edition, is on its way, with the source reckoning it will be launched before October (Super Mario Bros. Wonder is set to launch on Oct 20). A price tag of €349.99 is mentioned, so around £310 can be expected for the UK and about US$350 for the US.
The report (via dealabs) claims a finished product has been seen and that the only design difference is the color. This means the Nintendo Switch OLED Model Mario Red Edition has a docking station and Joy-Con that are red, with no further customizations being offered on the model that was supposedly seen by the source. It has been opined that Nintendo might officially launch this fourth Nintendo Switch OLED Model special edition at an upcoming Nintendo Direct event that is taking place on August 31.
