Samsung Food brings AI into the kitchen
Earlier today, Samsung Electronics announced the arrival of Samsung Food. This personalized food and recipe platform supports eight languages and is available in 104 countries. Samsung Food promises comprehensive AI-powered food experiences with the help of over 160,000 recipes.
In addition to providing a huge recipe database, Samsung Food allows its users to create personalized meal plans and even order ingredients online. Since most kitchen appliances in Samsung's porfolio are smart devices, this service "will also help users control their cooking appliances, while giving step-by-step guided cooking and allowing users to share their favorite recipes on social media."
According to Samsung, the Food platform focuses on four areas, namely recipe exploration and personalization, AI-enhanced meal planning, kitchen connectivity, and social sharing. The service works with mobile devices, but also via Bespoke Family Hub refrigerators (a working WiFi connection and a Samsung account are needed in this case).
To take things further than what's available at launch, Samsung Food will continue to receive new capabilities in the future. For example, Samsung Health integration is scheduled to arrive before the end of the year to help users better manage their diets. The list of synced information includes BMI, calorie consumption, and body composition. In 2024, Samsung Food is expected to get Vision AI — a technology that will allow it to recognize meals and individual food items, then to provide information such as nutrition information about each.
