Nintendo Switch 2 price reveal leads latest round of diverting NG Switch rumors
Big pinch of salt time as the source for these new Nintendo Switch 2 rumors is a controversial one: Zippo. This character has had a mixed relationship with social media and has been banned from some Reddit groups for supposedly providing misleading and inaccurate information. However, this kind of adversity hasn’t stopped Zippo coming out with some big guns firing, including reports about Nintendo making a partnership with Epic Games and the Switch 2/next-generation (NG) Switch coming in at a price that should surprise and please many fans.
According to the commenter, a source they have has been quite explicit in regard to the Nintendo Switch 2 price details, apparently stating:
$399. That's the 'golden number' that they have in mind. It's the price that works in terms of the power of their new system, it's the price that works for them making a decent profit, and it's the price that they think works for the audience that they're trying to maintain. No more. No less.
Previously, a price “ceiling” of US$499 was mentioned for the Switch 2; US$399 is a considerably lower figure that is only US$100 more than the launch price of the OG Switch. If the Nintendo Switch 2 release date does fall in the second half of 2024, which is widely expected at the moment, then a price tag that is under US$400 for a hybrid console that should be a huge leap in terms of specs, performance, and processing power over the 2017 model is very reasonable. If the system itself proves to be a cracker (Switch) rather than a dud (Wii U) then sales will undoubtedly go through the roof at that price point.
Zippo has also provided purported details about Nintendo’s growing list of partners, with Epic Games joining the roster proper and Unreal Engine being rolled out over more Switch titles. In fact, there is even a claim that Unreal Engine 4 will be used for a new Mario game for the NG Switch. In addition, there are repeated statements that the Switch 2 will have an LCD panel and will utilize a cartridge system for game delivery. The above information has also been cautiously shared by OJ – PlayerEssence, who is a Nintendo America brand ambassador and popular content creator. Just in time for all of this, there is a new fan-made concept video clip of the Nintendo Switch 2 doing the rounds, with the console looking like it was designed by Apple.
